Why Indian & Nepali dishes are pretty similar?
Most of the dishes of Indian food and Nepali food are similar in terms of the way of preparation, the spices used and the taste! In general, the organic form of spices like cumin, chili, onion, garlic, turmeric, the same amount and the same form, makes Indian and Nepali food similar in terms of taste! In that too, the dishes of the same type of food like rice, dry wet bread, lentils, legumes, and green leaves have connected the relationship between the foods of Nepal and India!

The Little Sherpa is a Nepalese place that has a great combo of Nepalese and Indian dishes. This time we got the chicken tikka masala, pumpkin curry (so unique!), chana masala, and garlic naan. My mom doesn't do well with spicy, and the kitchen was so accommodating by making the chicken and chana masala mild but still brining a little pot of homemade spicy sauce (essentially chili oil) for those who wanted the extra kick. I've also had their chicken fried momo and meat thali and both are SO good. Pricing is pretty typical for Nepalese/Indian food with most main dishes being about $14-$17 and there's always been enough for leftovers. Definitely a good place to bring lots of people for sharing! There's also tons of street parking right outside. The owner's family are sherpas from Nepal which is pretty cool, too! I've met the owner and his sister and both are just so, so nice.

The food here is so good. The service is wonderful too. We were so sad when the previous Nepalese/Indian restaurant in this space closed, because we loved ordering out from them. The Little Sherpa is just as good, but with an upgraded dine in space. We dined in for the first time this evening and will definitely be back. I highly recommend. Definitely a new neighborhood gem.

Amazing food! Great authentic nepalese cuisine! The steamed chicken momos (dumplings) were perfect! Spoke to the owner and he is incredibly nice. Definitely will recommend!
I was looking for a local place my husband and I could go to dinner tonight. The name of this place intrigued me. The food was delicious. I ordered the vege samosa and then asked for recommendations for dinner. We tried the little Sherpa Naan, the chicken chow menu and the pulau rice. Next time we will have to try the curry! We didn’t know it was BYOB, but Whole Foods is across the street. The people were lovely. We had an enough to bring some home too. Give it a try.

We saw this little place as we drove down Cicero and were intrigued. We love Indian food, so, when date night rolled around, we decided to give The Little Sherpa a try. And boy are we glad we did!! We got the goat biriani, steamed chicken dumplings, butter chicken and garlic naan (all hot). It was all tender and delicious. The Little Sherpa might just be my new crave. The prices are very reasonable. The take-out packaging is tidy (no spills). Portions are generous. Please, do yourself a favor and give The Little Sherpa a shot. You won't regret it!
